Counsels: Ages 12+, male and female individuals
Laura Wynne is a Master’s-level intern with Life Christian Counseling Network. She is currently pursuing her Master’s degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling through Regent University. She received her undergraduate degree in Theology from Christendom College and worked as a middle school teacher before answering God’s call to serve others as a counselor.
Laura is interested in working with individuals who are experiencing issues related to anxiety, depression, grief and loss, physical and emotional abuse, behavioral/substance addictions, self-worth issues, PTSD, trauma, women’s issues, and spirituality. Laura has a passion for counseling older adults (60+) and views the aging process as a normal and beautiful part of human development, encompassing physiological, social, emotional, and spiritual dimensions of one’s being. She is also interested and active in advocating for social justice and human rights issues, including helping individuals who struggle with homelessness/poverty.
Laura uses an integrative approach to counseling, and draws from person-centered, cognitive-behavioral, and narrative therapy, as well as dialectical behavior therapy and mindfulness techniques. Laura strives to foster a warm, caring, and empathic therapeutic environment that is client-focused and strengths-based.
“I am inspired by the saying of St. Irenaeus, ‘the glory of God is the human person fully alive.’ I believe each human person has inherent dignity and value because he/she is created by God out of love and is made in His Image, and, the more he/she becomes his/her authentic and best self, the more he/she is empowered, free, and glorifies God. Additionally, a Scripture verse that I find consoling is Revelation 21:5: “And he who sat upon the throne said, “Behold, I make all things new.”’ In the power of Jesus Christ, Who renews hearts and minds, change can happen and all things are possible.”
