Dr. Darryl Arrington, Counselor at Life Christian Counseling Network

Darryl Arrington, CHRISTIAN COUNSELOR

DARRYL ARRINGTON, PHD, LCPC, BC-TMH, NCC

Darryl Arrington worked in the field of information technology for nearly two decades after receiving a bachelor’s degree in computer science from Bowie State University. Although he experienced success as a contractor with the Department of Housing and Urban Development, the Federal Aviation Administration, and the National Aeronautics and Space Administration, Darryl felt led by God to take his career in another direction. He entered Capital Bible Seminary in pursuit of a better understanding of how to minister to the soul, a decision that led to a master’s in Christian counseling and included a richly rewarding season of reformation serving in ministry to the homeless and disadvantaged in Baltimore and Washington, DC.

Having completed his Master's, Darryl was blessed with a position directing a large inpatient rehabilitation program just outside Washington, DC. As well, during the same period, Darryl began providing services as a clinical therapy services at Life Christian Counseling Network. Since that time, Darryl has continued to provide therapeutic services to hundreds of individuals, couples, and families seeking support for progressive life changes.

Darryl utilizes an integrative blend of therapeutic models, including Bowen Family Systems, Solution-Focused Therapy, 12-Step Principles, and, most importantly, Christ-dependent prayer. He has experience providing therapeutic services to those struggling with marital disharmony, including infidelity, issues of lust, and spiritual apathy or stagnation. Darryl’s clients have included singles, couples, and families; men, women, and young adults.

Darryl has a PhD in marriage and family therapy; he is also a member of the American Association of Marriage and Family Therapists (AAMFT), the Maryland Association for Counseling and Development (MACD), and the Christian Association for Psychological Studies (CAPS). He is frequently found with his family at local family venues, and his personal serendipitous activities include mountain biking, Bible study, and dating his wife.

“I most enjoy working with those who are captured by the failures that we all share. One of the ways I knew God called me to a ministry of counseling was the awe I felt as I listened to the stories of joy and pain that ‘He’ weaves into the lives of his creations. I enjoy exploring the goodness of God with others. I also enjoy hearing about the demonstrations of His power in others' lives. I have found that forgiveness is a key component that must be addressed.”

“I know that God is most concerned with the spiritual and emotional heart and its health. Too often, we focus on other things, unaware that these distractions also eventually affect our hearts. When we pause and reflect, we can find that our problems come down to matters of the heart.”
