Willa M. Colbert, EdD, LCPC, LPC, NCC

Dr. Willa M. Colbert loves the Lord Jesus Christ and has a passion for providing hope to people who feel as if all hope is gone. Dr. Colbert believes in the power of prayer, and before each counseling session, she prays for God to lead, guide, and direct her, because she believes that He is the ultimate Counselor who provides the answers and healing. She also believes that the Holy Spirit leads us into all truth, and is our teacher, helper, comforter, and our guide. Dr. Colbert is also an Ordained Reverend and serves as an Associate Minister at a local church in Washington, D.C.

Dr. Colbert believes that building a strong client-therapeutic relationship is key to providing the client with hope and healing, and her main theoretical orientation is cognitive with a focus on cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT) with an integrative person-centered approach in working with adults, adolescents, and couples. 

Dr. Colbert is a Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor and Supervisor in the State of Maryland, a Licensed Professional Counselor and Supervisor in the State of Virginia, and is currently working toward licensure as a Licensed Professional Counselor in Washington, D.C.

Dr. Colbert has earned her Master of Arts in Clinical Mental Health Counseling and School Counseling from Regent University, and a Doctor of Education in Counselor Education and Supervision from Marymount University. Dr. Colbert has served as an Undergraduate Academic Advisor, Adjunct Professor, and Visiting Assistant Professor (Counselor Educator) of Counseling at a local University. Additionally, Dr. Colbert holds certifications as a National Certified Counselor (NCC), and as an Approved Clinical Supervisor (ACS). She is also a member of the Chi Sigma Iota (CSI) Counseling Honor Society.

Dr. Colbert is married with young adult children and enjoys spending quality time with her family. She also feels very blessed to have grown up in a Christian home. She attributes her love and passion for the Lord Jesus Christ and His Word to her Mother. Dr. Colbert believes that there is nothing too impossible for God to do or any situation too great for Him to handle. She has many favorite passages in the Bible, but two that hold dear to her heart are Psalm 27 and Proverbs 3:5-6.
